VA Linux Systems Inc has launched its web site, Linux.com. Like Redhat.com, the site is conceived as a portal and community for proponents and users of the open source operating system. VA is particularly pleased because it won the domain in a bidding war against Compaq and - get this! - Microsoft. The company reports that the site's holding screen is already fielding 100,000 hits per day. Once live, Linux.com will host real-time chat and an index of tuning information for the tuning-challenged benchmark testers at Mindcraft (CI No 3,647), among others. á
