CBR Staff Writer Published 28 July 2009

Automates implementation of file system protection practices

Varonis Systems has released the DatAdvantage and DataPrivilege Version 5.0, which provides integrated problem discovery, enhanced data protection and entitlement management for data owners.

Varonis said that the Version 5.0 automates the implementation of file system protection practices through its integrated problem discovery reports, which provide guidance to reduce access and maintain optimal access controls.

According to Varonis, the version 5.0 features include: auditing of ‘write’ events, enhanced access intelligence, data access management through email. It works on any email client including simple-text, browser-based and smartphones.

The version 5.0 supports POSIX ACLs in Unix/Linux environments, Centrify and 64-bit Windows operating systems, in addition to SharePoint, Microsoft Windows Server, EMC and Network Appliance NAS devices, and Unix/Linux file systems.

Yaki Faitelson, CEO and co-founder of Varonis, said: “With Version 5.0, we’re simplifying data governance processes by taking the guess work out of data access management. Version 5.0 takes automated data governance one step further by not only providing business intelligence, but explicitly identifying and telling data owners what risks there are, and giving them an option to eliminate these risks.”

Reportedly, for all customers under Varonis support package would receive the Version 5.0 features for free, which is expected to available in August. For new customers, it starts at $22,580 and includes DatAdvantage and DataPrivilege for 100 users, and technical support for the first year.
