This new venture merges the BCS IT Industry Awards and Computing Awards for Excellence and creates a platform for the entire IT profession to showcase and celebrate best practice, innovation and excellence.
David Clarke, BCS CEO, said: BCS is delighted to join with Computing to bring our two IT awards schemes together to make the definitive UK IT industry awards, combining the best of both of our former schemes. These awards will form the showcase for the entire profession and will become the benchmark for excellence.
The awards feature 24 categories providing a platform for organisations and individuals involved in IT across the public, not for profit and commercial sectors. Entry for the awards is now open via an online entry process.
Initial judging takes place in August, after which finalists will be invited to give presentations and go through an interview process with an expert panel of judges drawn from across the industry in September. The winners will be announced at a gala evening event at the magnificent Battersea Park Events Arena in London.
Robin Booth, publisher of Computing, said: Combining the experience and resources of the UK's leading IT media brand with those of the society for the UK IT profession is an enticing prospect. It is vital for the profession to be able to demonstrate excellence and best practice and to show that the technology industry is one of the most important in the UK for innovation, investment and value.
Mr Clarke said: The merging of the two award schemes is a natural extension of BCS's relationship with Computing. The awards are vital to both organisations' desire to establish IT as a profession with similar standing to that of other chartered professions.
