The social media management dashboard has added three social plugins to enable users to send social media content to third party applications.
Hootsuite says the new plugins will allow users to take social content from sites like Twitter and turn it into Storify elements or Zendesk tickets for support issues.
Hootsuite’s applications in its directory are free for its 5m user and can be installed by logging into the dashboard and clicking the App directory button.
"With the addition of app plugins, we’re making it possible for our users to monitor their social media properties from the dashboard, then delegate messages for additional handling in external, third-party applications," said Ryan Holmes, CEO of HootSuite. "This tighter coupling between HootSuite and its integrated apps extends the power of both."
Hootsuite’s plugin with Zendesk, the cloud based customer service software with over 65m users, will allow users to create tickets from messages that appear in Facebook and Twitter dashboard streams.
Storify provides a tool for turning social media content into stories that can be embedded on blogs and websites. The new Storify plugin on Hootsuite will create a new way to collect and add social content from social media streams to stories in Storify.
The Evernote application for HootSuite will now allow users to add social media messages to texts, webpages, images and voice memos. The collaboration will create a new way to create notes from social media content and manage notebooks within streams.
"This tighter coupling between HootSuite and integrated apps with Plugins greatly extends the power of both," said Andy Au, content producer at HootSuite. "You can look forward to more apps and integrations that make use of this functionality for Customer Support, CRM, Digital Marketing, Publishing/Content Curation and more."
Hootsuite, which estimates it will have 6 million users by the end of 2012, launched its App Directory in 2011 and have recently added applications like Instagram and Slideshare to its directory.
