Allows accurate views of data to be accessed by select individuals with minimal administration effort
StoredIQ, a provider of Intelligent Information Management and eDiscovery technologies, has unveiled classification-based security that delivers control for granting access to potentially responsive data for audits, investigations and eDiscovery requests based on content classification, not just physical location, such as server, share or directory structures.
This new approach to access control allows companies to create a classification that represents the data to be reviewed by the legal team prior to finalising collection and preservation decisions – without having to move data or temporarily change the security privileges on each system for each file or email that needs to be reviewed.
The company said that investigators and reviewers benefit from StoredIQ’s intelligent access because they can define custom types and categories of unstructured data to review based on their own business rules and selection criteria. StoredIQ’s classification engine supports advanced search criteria that combines the use of system metadata, object level metadata, content keywords, natural language processing and concept extraction.
StoredIQ locates, identifies, indexes and classifies unstructured and semi-structured data across range of storage, email, archiving, content, document and record management systems. User groups or individual users can be assigned to individual or multiple classification-based working sets in order to securely control data access.
According to the StoredIQ, with this classification-based approach to access control, it is able to maintain search performance while giving the user the flexibility and power needed for data access administration. This patent-pending technology is expected to save organisations costs and time preparing for and responding to audits, investigations, and eDiscovery requests.
Keith Zoellner, chief technology officer at StoredIQ, said: With our new classification driven access control, StoredIQ delivers another critical step forward to better manage the functional intersection of eDiscovery, records management and storage management with one unified solution. Now very precise and accurate views of data, based on content, can be accessed by select individuals or groups quickly with minimal administration effort.
