Is this the Nexus 5?

After yesterday’s announcement of Android’s KitKat operating software, Google released a video showing the unveiling of a new statue.

All fairly normal and fun, but wait, what’s that? Sharp-eyed viewers have spotted a new Nexus device in the video, and they think it might just be the much anticipated Nexus 5 mobile phone!

Google have since made the video private, indicating that this may well be the Nexus 5.

An honest mistake or clever marketing?

Clearly visible is the Nexus logo. I am joyous. I’ve been waiting for news of the Nexus 5 for months now, and this clever (or dumb) slip-up by Google has confirmed my suspicions: that it’s on the way and that it looks awesome!

The back is smooth and glossy, with the camera in the same position as the Nexus 4. It looks LG made, which go against rumours that Google-owned Motorola would produce the device.

The new deviceis widely expected to have a 5.2in Full HD edge-to-edge screen. It will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, have 2GB RAM, a 13-megapixel camera, ship with 16GB or 32GB of onboard storage and run the Android 4.4 KitKat OS.

Oh I thank the phone gods, I WILL have a new Nexus by the end of the year.
