Teradata rolls out a number of analytics enhancements.
One of the problems with hybrid cloud is the impact that it has on data analytics as it often results in difficulties in locating data, and slows the whole process.
Teradata believes it has solved this problem with Borderless Analytics. The latest product to the company’s portfolio is said to deliver on the promise of hybrid cloud by providing capabilities that will allow a user to analyse data where they want, when they want, regardless of where data and platforms reside.
The company said that the Borderless Capability has been made possible thanks to the latest version of its QueryGrid software for analytics and Teradata Unity software.
The move comes in response to a growing belief that hybrid clouds will be the clouds of the future. Certainly a number of vendors such as HPE, IBM, Oracle and more have said so.
With the hybrid cloud comes the requirement for a hybrid analytical ecosystem which combines on-premises appliances, on-premises virtualisation technology, managed clouds and public clouds. The importance of the multi-system environment is that it helps companies to balance spikes in usage, manage spend, and helps to ensure that analytic processing takes place closer to the source data.
Teradata said that its tech advances will help to build a foundation for use cases such as cloud bursting, cloud data lab, and cloud disaster recovery.
Oliver Ratzesberger, EVP and Chief Product Offer at Teradata, said: “Agility is a critical business priority, but complexity created by today’s hybrid environments can slow everything to a crawl. Borderless Analytics is about infrastructure agility and unlocking new use cases.”
With Borderless Analytics businesses will be able to leverage multiple data stores and analytic engines, simplify management of multi-system environments, minimise data movement by processing data where it resides, match compute resources and data storage based on business value, and maintain security and data encryption, the company said.
Borderless Analytics will work in tandem with Teradata Everywhere which the company also revealed.
Teradata Everywhere is said to bring a massively parallel processing analytic database to multiple public clouds, managed cloud, and on-premises environments including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Teradata Managed Cloud, VMware virtualisation software, and Teradata’s IntelliFlex platform.
The Teradata Everywhere product enhancements will be available beginning Q3 2016 through Q2 2017.
