News: The partnership will also help in controlling storage expansion costs for Fujitsu.
Under the proposed strategic partnership, Fujitsu will look to integrate Box solutions into its global integrated communication platform.
Initially, the company plans to offer Box services to 160,000 employees across its internal communication platform. The technology firm expects to roll out the services to its employees in the latter half of its fiscal 2016 (ending March 2017).
Apart from providing solutions for information sharing and improved content management, Box will also help in controlling storage expansion costs for Fujitsu.
Fujitsu will integrate Box solutions into its new cloud platform MetaArc in 2017. The integration will enable Box content to be stored in Fujitsu data centers located in Japan.
Box Co-founder and CEO Aaron Levie said: "Global businesses today are more connected, collaborative and global thanks to the power of the cloud. Fujitsu’s move to Box underlines its appetite for improved ways of working in the new digital era.
"The intended partnership will help power digital transformation for customers and we’re excited at the possibilities to accelerate international growth with Fujitsu."
In November last year, Fujitsu has acquired French software company UShareSoft to boost its cloud business.
The acquisition was expected to allow Fujitsu to incorporate UShareSoft’s primary software product UForge into Fujitsu Cloud Service K5, which is the core product of Fujitsu Digital Business Platform MetaArc.
By integrating Box with Fujitsu’s solutions, both the companies plan to jointly develop solutions for CRM, ECM, and industry-specific solutions such as for manufacturing, retail, and public sectors.
The two companies will also jointly undertake marketing activities to promote their integrated solutions that include features such as security, mobile devices, network capability, and palm vein authentication.
Fujitsu corporate executive officer, EVP, head of global marketing Hiroyuki Sakai said: "Fujitsu’s objective is to bring Digital Transformation to life by creating a secure, user-friendly, and simple environment where people can thrive. Our collaboration with Box will be a big step towards making this vision a reality.
"This partnership will help us to provide our customers with new business opportunities by harnessing cloud-computing technologies. It fits perfectly with our strategy, and it will contribute significantly to the future of ICT."
