Collaboration with larger companies like Microsoft are key to gain access to larger markets.
Egnyte is making Microsoft Azure its primary cloud partner.
The move to more closely align with what is essentially a rival offering appears to be a way for Egnyte, an enterprise file-sharing and collaboration provider, to gain greater market traction.
As part of the strategy Egnyte will offer end-to-end integration services for companies that are dealing with a diverse mix of apps, images, and documents that are held across various devices.
Egnyte offers a hybrid, open architecture and now its products will be available from the Azure marketplace, something that the company will be hoping will boost business.
“At Egnyte our strategy has always been around openness. We want to empower businesses to build their digital workplace with an ecosystem of best-in-class applications that fit the needs of each employee to get work done efficiently,” said Egnyte CEO Vineet Jain.
One element of the strategy will see the company well positioned to help solve the problem of shadow IT. As the diverse mix of apps and devices continues to grow so does the amount of shadow IT and so a company that is looking at synchronising these tools and devices should be well placed.
An end-to-end solution will go some way to solving this problem.
Collaborating is one way for the it to piggyback off the growing success of Microsoft’s cloud offering – Azure.
Azure would traditionally be seen as a competitor to Egnyte, as it offers OneDrive storage and other collaborative tools. As with most areas of the tech industry this is a very competitive market with the likes of Dropbox and Box also involved.
Collaboration has become a key way for businesses like Egnyte, Dropbox, and Box to both improve their product offerings and gain access to larger markets. Both Dropbox and Box have collaborated with the likes of Google, Microsoft, and IBM – all of which are much larger companies.
As analyst firms such as Gartner continue to predict the rapid growth of cloud adoption, being aligned with one of the major market players is a good move.
The cloud collaboration company will also continue to support Amazon Web Services.
