Signs two location deal with big colo provider
Cloud app provider Zoho is are opening up two data centres in Amsterdam and Dublin
The California based cloud business app provider has also launched services at Zoho.eu due to its expanding European customer base.
The company signed a deal with Equinix to help it connect with more customers, illustrating the depth of Zoho’s ambitions. Offices are already established in London, Singapore, Japan, China and India.
Zoho stated the importance of data privacy as a reason for its European investment. The opening of two European data centres ensures that the data of its European customers will remain within the continent.
A date for the completion of the new data centres has not yet been confirmed, nor have the two companies stated the finances of the deal.
Raj Sabhlok, president of Zoho said ‘‘Europe is an important market for us. More and more companies here [Europe] are moving to the cloud and new ones are mushrooming across the continent.
‘‘We can see a rise in demand for Zoho products, and are happy to announce that we are increasing our investment in Europe, starting with these two data centres and zoho.eu.’’
Zoho is a division of Zoho corp, a privately held company which employs more than 4,000 people. Around 20 million customers around the world use Zoho as a way of running their business.
Scott McConnell, Sales Director for Equinix in Ireland and Emerging Markers, stated at the press release that Equinix is ‘‘delighted to be part of Zoho’s journey.’’
‘‘In Dublin, Zoho’s European users can be assured continuous services in the most interconnected data centres.’’
Equinix, like Zoho, is based in California and operate over 145 data centres spanning five continents. The company reported revenues of $2.7 billion in 2015 and is the leading international global collocation data centre by market share.
