Intel Optane memory is claimed to provide uncompromising system responsiveness for large capacity storage drives.
Intel has introduced Optane modules designed to boost the performance of desktop PCs and improve the daily computing experience.
Intel Optane memory allows PCs to deliver more performance and faster load times across a range of personal computing experiences.
The chip maker claims that the memory module will allow new levels of PC responsiveness from compute-intensive engineering applications to high-end gaming, digital content creation, web browsing and day to day office productivity applications.
Powered by a seventh-generation Intel Core processor, Intel Optane memory increases the speed of application, game or large file loading.
Optane memory will increase the speed of a traditional hard disk drive-based PC by 28%, with up to 14 times faster storage performance.
Common apps like the Chrome browser or Microsoft Outlook should load five to six times faster, Intel said.
The company said that games can start up to 67% faster, and load levels up to 65% faster.
Intel Optane Memory devices will be initially sold in 16GB and 32GB capacities on 24 April, for prices of $44 and $77, respectively.
Optane-equipped systems from PC makers such as Dell, HP, Asus, Lenovo, Acer and others will arrive throughout the second quarter of this year.
Intel SVP & GM for the Client Computing Group Navin Shenoy said: “This new innovation in memory, with 7th Gen Intel Core processor-based PCs, and other Intel technologies are paving the way for the future of computing.
“These advancements change the way we interact with our devices and the world around us, from gaming to virtual reality and everyday productivity. It’s never been a more exciting time for the PC industry.”
Manufacturers such as Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, ASRock and others are currently offering over 130 Intel Optane memory ready motherboards.
The chip maker’s Optane Technology is a combination of 3D XPoint memory media, Intel Memory and Storage Controllers, Intel Interconnect IP and Intel software.
