List: The annual Discover conference in Las Vegas saw several key updates made to HPE’s portfolio.
In Vegas this week HPE has been holding its annual Discover conference during which it made a number of announcements around the Internet of Things, a container partnership with Docker, and updates to its cloud portfolio, as well as others.
CBR rounds up the news is a handy list.
HPE introduced a converged system for IoT with the Edgline EL1000 and EL4000. The systems which are based on Intel’s Xeon processors offer computing, storage, and data-capture features built in, are aimed at bringing data centre power to the edge, the company said.
The idea is that the systems can be mounted on things like trains, windmills and other IoT enabled things that are at the edge.
The company is aiming to allow businesses to keep functions at the edge such as deep analytics at source. This means that the data doesn’t have to initially come back to the data centre, this should improve time to value.
