With the strong penetration of smartphones in the UK market, there has been a decline in demand for cameras and camcorders.
This has led Samsung to readjust its local strategy and announce it will stop selling cameras and camcorders in Britain.
In a statement, the company said: "We quickly adapt to market needs and demands. In the UK, we have seen a gradual and sustained decline in demand for standalone digital cameras and camcorders and related accessories."
For this reason, Samsung has taken the decision to phase out the sales and marketing of these products. "This is a local decision, based on local market conditions."
A report from Ofcom has found that only one in five British adults (22%) still use a digital camera in 2015. 60% of adults said they use their smartphones to do this.
Looking at those aged 18-24, almost nine in ten (89%) only use smartphones to take a snap.
