VSM 7.0 supports open cloud-ready web and IT applications through APIs and SDKs
Networking firm Cisco has launched its Video Surveillance Manager 7.0, which is certified to run in Cisco’s virtualised Unified Computing System (UCS) environments.
Cisco said the new application will offer customers in healthcare, public sector and retail sector a scalable safety and security surveillance system with video.
The company is also introducing a new line of medianet-enabled high-definition IP video surveillance cameras, remote management services and extension of its medianet strategy.
Cisco’s new medianet-enabled applications are designed to help IT and security teams partner to implement very-large scale video deployments.
Video Surveillance Manager 7.0 is built to virtualise security operations in Cisco UCS B-series, UCS C-series and UCS Express.
It can support up to 10,000 IP video surveillance cameras on a single Video Surveillance Manager and, when combined with Physical Security Operations Manager (PSOM) it can manage more than 1 million video surveillance streams.
In addition, VSM 7.0 also supports open cloud-ready web and IT applications through APIs and SDKs.
The enhanced medianet phase 3 capabilities are claimed to support IP Video Surveillance cameras that work together with embedded medianet services in Video Surveillance Manager 7.0 and across Cisco’s medianet enabled switches and routers on the network.
With Cisco Media Services Proxy (MSP), users can now prioritise traffic based on business policies for optimal quality, reduced integration costs and easy deployment and management of video endpoints, the company said.
The new line of medianet-enabled remote management services are claimed to help customers ensure reliable uptime needed across their Unified Computing Systems platforms and network-integrated Connected Physical Security deployments for Video Surveillance, Unified Incident Management, and Access Control and Security Operations Manager applications.
Cisco Emerging Technologies Group general manager & CTO Guido Jouret said the Video Surveillance Manager 7.0 is a redesigned system built from the ground up with ‘Cisco DNA’ with enhanced scalability and manageability.
"Thanks to Medianet, virtualization support, and great application-level APIs, we’re offering our customers unprecedented scale at the lowest levels of TCO," Jouret said.
