Expected to enable the development of optical network equipment with 100Gbps Ethernet transmission capabilities
Fujitsu Optical Components said it will release a coherent transceiver for 100Gbps digital coherent transmission systems in April next year, as defined in the OIF 100GLH-ME-01.0 specifications.
The coherent transceiver will help to enable the development of optical network equipment with 100Gbps Ethernet transmission capabilities on backbone networks.
The outcome of this product is due to demand of 100Gbps optical networks as rapid increase in the volume of communications traffic has resulted from the spread of new services such as mobile broadband using smart phones, cloud computing and on-line streaming.
Fujitsu has successfully commercialised a 100Gbps coherent transceiver by using digital coherent signal processing technology, optimal control technology for optical devices used in digital coherent systems, and compact circuit design/high density mounting technology.
Digital signal processing technology has been applied to compensate the waveform distortion by electric signal processing, which limits the transmission distance in high-speed transmission.
Optimal control technology developed by FOC controls the LN modulator and the integrated receiver used in this module, which design has shown high stability when subjected to environmental change.
The circuit design technology also developed by Fujitsu reduce the circuit size considerably, as when combined with FOC’s high density mounting technology, a compact 100Gbps transceiver that is the same size as a standard 40 Gbps transceiver has been achieved.
