Operators now can automatically locate and operate target optical fibers
Huawei, a provider of telecommunications network offerings, has unveiled the Intelligent Optical Distribution Network (iODN) prototype.
The company said iODN offers multiple intelligence functions and enables operators to automatically locate and operate target optical fibers, paving the way for massive fiber to the home (FTTH) rollouts.
The iODN prototype can address high error rate and low efficiency and continuity constraints through intelligent optical fiber management, including setup and management of optical fiber connections.
Its design automates the identification and the collection of optical fiber connections and splitters.
Huawei director of ODN Service Department Wang Dexiang said this new prototype, along with their expertise in end-to-end ODN delivery, including planning and engineering, will pave the way for massive fiber to the home rollouts.
