Real-time collaboration for employees in multi-site environments
Riverbed Technology, the IT infrastructure performance company for networks applications and storage, announced that architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) firms, utilising Autodesk’s AutoCAD 2010 software, will experience the performance benefits by using its WAN optimisation services.
According to Riverbed, its WAN optimisation services are expected to accelerate AutoCAD 2010 by up to 100 times while cutting WAN bandwidth consumption by 50% to 90%.
Enhancing the performance of AutoCAD 2010 over the WAN enables AEC firms to access large files for the design and development of new projects. This is expected to result in real-time collaboration for employees in multi-site environments and reduce their operational and IT financial investments. Riverbed Steelhead appliances enable architects and engineers to collaborate with offices around the world and accelerate performance of their key applications, said Riverbed.
Eric Stover, AutoCAD product line manager at Autodesk, said: AutoCAD is a powerful 2D and 3D application that allows organisations to incorporate extreme detail into meticulous designs. With the significant upgrades we’ve incorporated into AutoCAD 2010, such as free-form design tools, parametric drawing and enhanced PDF support – we expect a large percentage of our customers to upgrade to the new format. We’re confident that customers upgrading to AutoCAD 2010 will benefit from the impressive acceleration capabilities provided by Riverbed.
