Phishers are targeting users of Facebook on the back of a sex tape allegedly featuring a Filipino television host, according to security firm Symantec.
Users are told to enter their Facebook username and password before being sent to a porn site which hosts the sex tape that features a man who resembles Paolo Bediones, a former host on the defunct MTV Philippines network.
Avdhoot Patil, a senior antifraud analyst at Symantec, said: "Phishers are known for capitalising on current events and using them in their phishing campaigns.
"By redirecting users to this adult website, users are less likely to be aware that they have been scammed and may believe their login was valid."
Users are advised to check website URLs, not to click on suspicious links in emails, and not to enter personal information in pop-ups.
Patil added that Facebook has been informed and is investigating.
