Digital marketers and developers invited to London hackathon on September 7.
Comic Relief, the charity behind Sport Relief and Red Nose Day, in association with mobile agency Fetch, has announced the launch of the Comic Relief App Hack.
The App Hack has been designed to allow the digital and marketing communities to collaborate with Comic Relief to create an innovative and inclusive mobile product for Sport Relief 2014, which takes place from March 21 to 23, 2014. Fetch is lending its experience on the day to help and guide the attendees as they come up with product ideas and marketing plans to support the event.
Spaces are limited to 40 individuals who will attend the day itself, which will be opened with some words from the Exec team at Tech City, the government group initiated to drive entrepreneurship and investment into London. The best ideas and individual team members will be announced at the end of September and may even get to see their app produced and marketed, nationwide.
As one of the UK’s biggest fundraising events, Sport Relief brings the nation together to get active, raise cash and change lives in the UK and around the world. The 2012 event raised an unprecedented £67.9m for Sport Relief. Organisers promise that there will be more ways than ever before to join in the fun and games.
Amanda Horton-Mastin, innovation director from Comic Relief, commented: "We’re keen to make this year’s Sainsbury’s Sport Relief as inclusive as possible, which is where the App Hack comes in. With so many talented digital and mobile marketers and developers we’re looking forward to a wealth of ideas around engagement and gamification, which fit with the brand, embrace the latest mobile tech and are truly contagious."
James Connelly, MD and co-Founder of Fetch, added: "What I love about this event is that not only will individuals get to network, test their talent, be creative and produce some cool work, but they also get to work with an awesome charity that truly cares about innovation and technology. It’s on a Saturday so we expect a fun, passionate crowd of London’s finest or up and coming stars to roll their sleeves up."
Digital marketers, developers and UX experts are invited to be a part of the App Hack on September 7, at Level 39, 1 Canada Square, Canary Wharf, London. Doors open at 9am.
