Workstation 11 is the ‘ultimate Swiss army knife’.
A Windows 10-ready virtual PC platform has been released by VMware.
VMware Workstation 11, which can offer Windows 10 Tech Preview readiness, is the latest version of VMware’s workstation range, and further offers VMware vCloud Air integration.
Nicolas Rochard, a director for end-user computing at VMware, said: "VMware Workstation 11 will be the ultimate Swiss army knife that helps developers and IT administrators extend their virtual environments from their laptops, to the data centre and the public cloud.
"VMware Workstation pioneered the virtualization industry 15 years ago and countless industries and professionals have since used the solution to effectively help modernize the workplace."
Updates to Workstation include the ability to be ready for the Windows 10 technical preview and support for the latest Intel 64-bit x86 processors, including the new Haswell microarchitecture for maximum performance.
VMware said that, taking advantage of key new Haswell extensions, the solution will also deliver up to 45 percent improvement in CPU intensive operations like multimedia, encryption/decryption, and other strenuous performance tests compared to Workstation 10.
VMware Workstation 11 will require 64 bit processor and 64 bit host operating systems for advanced computing and enhanced performance, and will be available to purchase from December.
