3Dlabs Inc has formed a partnership with San Francisco-based Intervista Software Inc to run Intervista’s WorldView browser on its Permedia and Glint 3D processors. The two-year-old company’s WorldView Virtual Reality Modeling Language 2.0 browser is said to provide high level three-dimensional interaction on Microsoft Corp’s Windows, and 3Dlabs believes it is a perfect accompaniment to its processors. According to 3Dlabs, the agreement comes as part of its drive for 3D performance on the personal computer, making interactive business and leisure applications available for everyone. The two companies are also working together to offer WorldView bundling licenses to 3Dlabs’ Original Equipment Manufacturer customers. Glint provides workstation-class 3D functionality and performance and has 2D Windows acceleration power. Permedia is said to be a low-cost graphics processor that combines fast VGA, video, 2D and 3D acceleration on to one chip. The companies will continue to trade separately, but will recommend each other’s products to existing or potential customers.
