3DO Inc, the company started in San Mateo, California by Electronic Arts Inc founder Trip Hawkins and backed by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co (CI No 2,073), also has backing from Time Warner Inc, and is expected to unveil its new standard for video games machines on January 7 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas: it will not make its own machines, but will license the design to others, and hoped to take on market leaders Nintendo Co and Sega Enterprises Ltd; Matsushita will make the first machines to the new 3DO standard.
