Reference design based on Intel Atom processor based platform ‘Moorestown’
Aava Mobile has launched a fully open mobile device for smartphones and tablets with PC-like capabilities. The reference design is based on Intel Atom processor based platform, codenamed ‘Moorestown’, designed for the handheld, smartphone and tablet market segments.
The reference design is powered by Moblin and Android communities and is intended for system manufacturers and carriers who can customise both the hardware and software. The devices measure 64mm by 125mm and 11.7 millimeters thin and its reference design provides support for Linux-based Moblin 2.1 and Android OSs, the company said.
According to Aava Mobile, the new offering includes features such as touch screen with haptics/vibra feedback; HD video capability; micro USB OTG also for peripherals like external mouse, keyboard, storage or docking station; HD video conferencing with front-facing camera that supports facial and gesture recognition; 2 microphones; 3D UI and 3D sound; 3G GSM network for voice and data; and accelerometer, 3D compass, GPS and Wi-Fi.
