Taiwanese PC giant Acer Inc. has nailed down the chain of succession for its top two jobs ahead of the planned departure of founder, chairman and CEO, Stan Shih.
Current president JT Wang will take over from Shih from January 1, 2005. Gianfranco Lanci, currently president of Acer EMEA, will take on Wang’s current role of president. Lanci, who will commute to Taiwan once a month in his new role, will also be CEO of IT Business at the firm. Shih said in a statement Lanci had reaped tremendous results in boosting the firm’s share in Europe, while Wang said he was confident that Lanci has the strength to lead Acer to become one of the top three global PC brands.
