Ameritrade Holding Corp became the latest online brokerage to offer extended trading hours on Tuesday, with the announcement of deals with several outside service providers. The Omaha, Nebraska-based company said it will soon be offering customers expanded access via the Island ECN, MarketXT, Knight Securities and the Chicago Stock Exchange. The extended hours trading times will vary with MarketXT executing from 6pm to 8pm Eastern time while the Island ECN extended hours are 8am to 8pm Eastern. The Chicago Stock Exchange has not yet started its extended hours trading but plans to will later this fall. Knight Securities will provide Ameritrade an extended hours order routing facility to multiple ECNs after October 1. According to the latest figures available, Ameritrade is the sixth-largest online broker in the US.
