As part of the deal Cadence PANTA display controller cores will be transferred to ARM
UK semiconductor IP supplier ARM has signed an agreement with Cadence Design Systems for acquisition and transfer of its PANTA family of high-resolution display processor and scaling coprocessor IP cores.
Co-developed in collaboration with ARM, Cadence PANTA display products are designed for advanced multimedia applications for high-end mobile devices with low power consumption.
Besides improving the companies’ long-standing ecosystem collaboration, the agreement also strengthens their technical alignment.
ARM’s executive VP Pete Hutton said display technology is critical to the mobile consumer’s user experience.
”The addition of the PANTA family of display cores to the ARM product portfolio will help our ecosystem of partners get to market quickly with high-end displays that are fully integrated with ARM’s leading Mali graphics and video solutions,” Hutton added.
Cadence IP senior VP Martin Lund said the two companies have collaborated on several levels, including IP integration, verification IP (VIP) for all ARM AMBA protocols, and high-performance design solutions optimised for ARM cores.
”As a result, both companies offer more tightly integrated solutions to our mutual customers,” Lund added.
