AT&T Co’s videophone announcement turns out to be that it is cutting the price of its VideoPhone 2500 by a third to $1,000; it also announced incentives to boost usage – people that bought the product at the old, higher price can get a cash rebate and customers can now buy the videophone with an optional interest-free installment plan, rent them overnight and use them for a fee to make calls from videophones booths in the AT&T Phone Centers; it also made deals with 11 hotel chains to install VideoPhones in 150 locations for use by guests.
