AT&T said it plans to launch hosted RFID service trials with an unspecified number of customers early next year.
It would mark the first time a US network offered a hosted RFID service of its kind, claimed AT&T.
AT&T said that during its 90-day trials, it would design and manage an end-to-end RFID service that would include its home-grown Global Enterprise Management System, a network management platform to monitor and manage performance across customer networks, servers and applications.
The service also would include AT&T’s network integration and consulting services, IP transport, hosting, storage, management applications and security, the company said.
The hosted service would be for asset tracking and management, and security applications for the manufacturing, transportation, retail and government sectors.
