The US International Trade Commission has imposed a ban on imports of all Samsung Corp equipment that includes memory chips that are deemed to infringe Texas Instruments patents, to take effect in 60 days from the ruling – but the ban is not likely to come into force because Texas has granted the South Korean firm temporary licences to make the parts as a first step to negotiating a royalty agreement.
