Claims to deliver best website rendering on mobile phones
Bitstream has unveiled new version of Bolt, a mobile browser available for mobile phones of all types.
The company claims that the Bolt 1.6 delivers best data compression ratio and website rendering, displaying full web pages just as they appear on desktop computers.
Bitstream said that the new release includes a number of design enhancements and incremental improvements driven by Bolt’s users. It offers full socket-based connectivity that can increase the page rendering speed of Bolt by as much as 15%. It also includes a new password manager, allowing usernames and passwords to be saved by the browser for easier logins to users’ favourite websites and online applications.
According to Bitstream, Bolt capabilities include breed page load speeds; page rendering; displays full websites as they would appear on desktop computers; streams videos from video services such as YouTube; copy and paste text; uploads video and photo files directly to websites from browser; and webkit based cloud computing browser.
The company said that the new offering features the ability to stream video from popular video websites and order and arrange favourites into custom folders. It is able to operate on a variety of mobile phones from feature phones to smartphones running on an estimated 3 billion handsets in the market.
In addition, the company has created a light version of mobile browser Bolt lite that contains all the essential features of the Bolt mobile browser, retaining Bolt’s feature-rich functionality, download speeds and desktop PC-style page layout in a smaller package optimised for entry-level devices.
