British Telecommunications Plc has joined with EDS-Scicon Ltd to bid for a contract to run British Aerospace Plc’s computer operations: the value of the contract is believed to be in the region of UKP500m: if the bid is successful, the company will take on around 1,800 staff, with 200 networking staff going to British Telecom; other bidders are believed to include Computer Sciences Corp and a rather unlikely consortium of IBM Corp and Digital Equipment Corp.
