British Telecommunications Plc yesterday launched a CT2 cordless phone system designed to link employees in places such as supermarkets and hospitals, claiming it to be the first time that full mobility on a single site has been available in the UK: the Northern Telecom Ltd Meridian Companion 10 cordless systems add a cellular radio- style hand-off between adjacent base stations to the cordless standard; it expects an average system with five base stations, five wired phone and seven cordless hand-sets and a control unit, to cost UKP8,000.
