A Chinese official responsible for telecommunications in Guangdong rejected hopes that China will loosen restrictions on foreign participation in running the booming telecommunications business in its southern province, Reuter reports from Hong Kong: We welcome foreign investment in Guangdong’s telecommunications, but forbid any foreign partner to run the business, Lu Errui, general manager of Guangdong Mobile Communication Corp declared – foreign company participation is restricted to investing in certain projects and taking profits at a set percentage fixed in advance; it is impossible for them to become shareholders of any entity in the telecommunications business.
