Chinon Industries Inc and Honeywell Inc have compromised in the suit Honeywell brought against Chinon in September alleging infringment of its autofocus patents – Chinon will pay Honeywell $4.75m for having used its patented technology up to March 31, 1992 and will continue to pay Honeywell for the right to use its technology from April 1 last year, but no sum was specified; Honeywell says it will also get $6.65m in total from Ricoh Co Ltd and Vivitar Inc for the patents; it earlier announced settlements worth $303.1m, and the only suit still outstanding is against Fuji Photo Film Co Ltd.
