Cipher Data Products Inc, Seagate Technology Inc and Sytron Corp have joined forces to create a common controller that supports both Seagate disk drives and Cipher tape drives attached to personal computers: both storage peripherals interface through the Small Computer System Interface Version 2 and the Seagate Cipher-Sytron SCSI Common Access Method provides a software interface under SCSI for both disk and tape that overcomes incompatibility resulting from vendor-unique SCSI implementations and enabls easy integration of compatible devices using a single SCSI host bus adapter in the personal computer.
