ClearOrbit, a provider of real-time supply chain execution and collaboration software, has reported that Paxar Corporation has implemented its ‘Gemini’ software across its manufacturing and distribution locations worldwide.
ClearOrbit says Gemini enables companies to improve inventory accuracy, reduce training costs and increase transaction throughput by leveraging automated data collection and bar code labeling within their operations. Paxar assists companies in tracking and identifying consumer products anywhere in their supply chain.
Paxar implemented the ClearOrbit mobile system for real-time RF (Radio Frequency) product identification and data collection, completely replacing a middleware PC-based solution. The Gemini application directly integrates to Paxar’s ‘Oracle’ e-business suite, eliminating data synchronization problems, increasing data accuracy and automating full label compliance.
Paxar’s ‘Monarch’ brand ‘9855’ bar code printers interface seamlessly with ClearOrbit’s application to execute shipping labels, carton labels, sleeve labels, as well as manage warehouse data and shop order flow.
Paxar says that by deploying a scalable system for process automation and mobile applications, it has been able to replace its network of shop floor PC’s for data collection. This helps the firm avoid the cost of PC maintenance and upgrades, and track and identify products, trigger labels and manage the shop floor off the primary Oracle ERP database, without synchronizing or suffering from data lag.
Our receiving, inventory, manufacturing and shipping processes are faster, more accurate and integrated directly into our ERP, worldwide, said Fred Buckman, director of information technologies, Paxar Americas.
