NTT Communications has revealed what it has dubbed ‘dramatic enhancements’ to its Enterprise Cloud solution.
Included in the enhancements is a hosted private cloud for traditional ICT, which will now offer dedicated bare-metal servers that the company says will offer pay-as-you-go flexibility and options of a multi-hypervisor environment.
Further enhancements made with the Enterprise Cloud also include a multi-tenant cloud that is based on the OpenStack architecture. This will give customers an industry standard open API to be able to control the offering in an automated manner.
Cloud Foundry has also been incorporated into the cloud offering, this has been done to aid application development and operational efficiency. Due to its open source nature it also helps to relieve any concerns about vendor lock-in.
One of the big pitches mentioned in the enhancements is the ‘seamless’ hybrid cloud environment. The seamlessness is said to be achieved by the multi-tenant cloud and hosted private cloud being connected at Layer 2 with Software Defined Networks (SDN).
This will give customers more flexibility and make it easier to configure network components. NTT Communications said that customers can reduce approximately 30% of the workload required for the network and server reconfiguration that typically comes with cloud migration.
The company is also offering its Enterprise Cloud platform with a connected 10Gbps closed network, free of charge. In addition to this the company is launching its Cloud Management Platform for managing both its own cloud offering and third-party clouds.
The third party clouds that are supported include Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. The platform is designed to help with managing hybrid clouds along with meeting the demands of IT governance and cost control.
NTT Communications has said that it plans to further enhance the capabilities on offer with further offerings including OpenStack-based micro service architecture to help adopt the latest open source technology. It also plans to launch new functions around SAP HANA, virtual private PaaS and enhanced cloud management capabilities.
Effectively all of these enhancements are aimed at helping enterprises to meet the requirements of digital transformation. It aims to tackle the challenges of migrating traditional ICT to the cloud and shifting towards a DevOps culture.
