Computer retail giant CompUSA Inc reported third-quarter net income up 43% at $32.7 million, or 35 cents a share, on revenue that grew 19% to $1.27bn. The results handily beat the First Call consensus of $0.29 per share for the quarter. Comparable store sales were up 5.6 percent in the quarter for the 95 stores a year or more. In addition to increased sales, the company reported its highest-ever gross margin of 14.4%. For the year-to-date, net income increased 48% to $71m on revenue up 22% at $3.5bn, and earnings per share rose 42% to $0.75.
