Gemplus Group SA, the French smart card manufacturer, reported net income for 1996 was up 33% at $26.5m on revenue which increased 55% to $440m. Gemplus said its international sales accounted for 87% of total sales, compared to 81% in 1995. With two new card production facilities opening in China and Mexico, and extended capacity at existing sites, Gemplus plans to increase its output from 750 million to 900 million cards in 1997.
