Santa Cruz Operation Inc’s first quarter revenue was the company’s best yet at $56.60m, up 18% on the $47.91m it did last time. Net income was just $3.96m, or $0.11 per share, compared with a $32.7m loss in the same period last year which included a $38.36m charge associated with cost of acquiring Unix from Novell Inc. SCO’s installed John Luhtala as senior VP and CFO, replacing John Jarvis. Luhtala was previously CFO at Syquest Technologies. License revenue in the quarter was $51.84m, up from $43.17m last time. SCO made an operating profit of $4.96m in the quarter, up from a loss of $35.32m in the same period last year. á
