Communications technology specialist Conexant has launched the world’s first satellite television receiver reference card for personal computers.
The reference card is targeted at manufacturers developing products that allow subscribers to watch, record and replay satellite broadcast programs on their PC. Should the card prove successful it could prove a vital key into the continued integration of home media devices.
The reference design is based on the DVB-S2 broadcast standard, but Conexant confirmed that it would be backward-compatible with the previous DVB-S and DSS standards. This should allow manufacturers to use a single platform to develop products for multiple industry standards, speeding time to market.
