To better manage overall energy usage
Consert, which is engaged in the design and implementation of intelligent energy distribution and management networks, has selected Marlabs, a provider of software and business process outsourcing services, to build an integrated smart grid energy management system.
According to Marlabs, by utilizing smart grid technology, the solution will allow a utility to better manage overall energy usage. Consumers will reportedly be able to control home power usage by creating their own energy schedule for key home devices, which is in turn communicated to load management systems at the utility end. As a result, utilities can better manage energy demand and consumers can bring down their utility bills, said Marlabs.
Jeff Holden, vice president of Marlabs, said: It is an honor to support Consert on this path-breaking energy management initiative. Based on real-time two-way response techniques, the system will create a virtual power plant, promote green renewable energy and improve efficiency of the grid.
Siby Vadakekkara, CEO of Marlabs, said: We are excited to be selected by Consert for this project of national relevance. I believe that such an integrated smart grid solution – benefiting both the utility and its consumers – will be a first for the industry. This also presents an opportunity for Marlabs to play a role in transforming our country’s electric power infrastructure and creating new green jobs, while aligning with the Obama administration plan for an internet-based smart grid.
