Enterprise search vendor Convera Corp is launching a new private-label web service offering of its Excalibur search and retrieval system which it now says has the capacity to index over 4 billion pages of Web content.
The Vienna, Virginia-based company says its Excalibur search and retrieval system that scans the Internet now contains more than 4bn pages of textual content – including 500 million images, 20 million audio files and 5 million video downloads.
The company says it has built a second data center in Dallas, Texas to ramp up the load and provide a redundant hosting environment for customers. It has another in San Diego, California.
Excalibur, which is built on Convera’s RetrievalWare enterprise search product, is popular with law enforcement, security and intelligence agencies. Convera says the software digs much deeper than regular Web search tools to extract and categorize information.
