Computer Sciences Corp has renewed its IT outsourcing contract with defense and aerospace firm BAE Systems Plc for approximately $1.9bn.
The five-year deal, first announced in December last year, replaces an existing agreement between the two companies that was due to expire in October. Under the terms of the new contract, CSC will manage BAE Systems’ servers, desktops, local and wide area networks and helpdesks, as well as providing application development and support.
El Segundo, California-based CSC first partnered with BAE Systems in 1994, when the companies agreed a 10-year, $1.5bn outsourcing deal covering the UK. Six years later, the contract was expanded to include not only BAE Systems’ IT operations in North America, but also the divisions BAE had acquired through its merger with Marconi Electronic Systems in 1999.
