The game of pass-the-parcel with what used to be called Metier Management System goes on, and no sooner has Lucas Industries Plc – now LucasVarity Plc – sold the British-born project management software specialist to Computer Sciences Corp than that company renames it CSC Artemis and sells it on again. This time the buyer is Los Angeles-based high technology acquisition and business management specialist Gores Technology Group Inc, which has bought 12 companies in 11 years. Artemis perfectly suits the Gores acquisition profile. Its brand name, product recognition, extensive customer base and dedicated employees are recognized internationally as being of the highest caliber, said an exultant Alec Gores, chairman of Gores Technology. The Artemis project management software serves nearly 2,000 customers through a network of 50 offices in 27 countries. Founded in 1976, Artemis sells the Views line of role-oriented integrated client-server applications for project, resource, cost and effort management, which use third party databases. Artemis 7000 and 9000 run on desktop, minicomputer and mainframe architectures. The company is now based in Boulder, Colorado.
