IT services vendor Computer Task Group Inc. has teamed up with Indian software services firm Polaris Software Lab. Ltd. to provide low-cost outsourcing services to financial services companies in the US and Europe.
Buffalo, New York-based CTG will utilize Polaris’s six software engineering centers in India to lower the cost of delivering applications management and testing services projects to Western banks and insurers.
Alliances have proved a popular method for second and third-tier IT services suppliers to gain an offshore delivery operation, without having to invest in building up their own operations organically or through acquisition.
Recent partnerships between Western services vendors and Indian companies include Zamba Solutions and HCL Technologies, Valtech SA and Hexaware-Aptech, SAIC and Satyam, and The Concours Group and Infosys Technologies.
CTG, which has 2,500 employees, has struggled with declining revenue in recent quarters caused by pricing pressure and the sale of its Dutch operation. Polaris, which has more than 5,200 staff, has worked on projects in the financial services sector with clients including Citigroup and AIG.
