Meantime Digital Equipment Corp reckons that it is retaining the profitable part of its disk-drive business while off-loading the loss-making portion of the unit to Quantum Corp: What’s left is the storage subsystems and video server businesses, and these are profitable, it said, noting that they cover half the value of the unit; Quantum expects that the DEC storage business will start contributing to profits in its next fiscal year, which starts on April 1 1995.
