Microsoft Corp and Digital Equipment Corp are negotiating the licensing and technology transfer terms of a deal to provide interoperability and migration between DEC’s All-In-1 office automation suite and MailWorks electronic mail system, and Microsoft’s Enterprise Messaging Server, Computer Reseller News hears. Max Mayer, vice-president of software alliances for DEC, confirmed to the paper that negotiations are under way on supporting customers wanting to move VAX- to Windows NT-based mail systems, but denied that any migration path is planned.
