Digital Equipment Corp said it is cutting the list prices on commodity products that it sells by between 5% and 47% – in a move it says is to simplify its pricing practices: products affected include storage, memory, video and communications products, amounting to about 25% of its total productrevenue; the sting in the tail is that the company is eliminating many volume discounts, so most customers won’t see significant changes in the prices they actually pay – We’re setting the list prices closer to what people are actually buying them for, DEC said.
