DEC is tipped to wind up the clock on the new CMOS chip set used in the VAX 6200 and MicroVAX 3000 to get the performance up to 3.5 to 4 MIPS against the present 2.8 or so, and to bring in a successor to the ZMOS chip-set based MicroVAX II using a slowed down version of the CMOS set delivering about 2 MIPS and selling for $25,000 to $60,000.
